would live helper chat be suitable for having a patron speak to a group of librarians? so basically one to many anonymously?

Hi alibama,
thank you for your question in the Live helper chat forum and welcome with this first post for you!
I AM happy to see your interest in Live helper chat.
Live helper chat is a live helper chat for support not for conference however if you open the live helper chat website: https://livehelperchat.com/ if you are from Desktop you will be able to see a smile in the right of the screen.
If you click here you can see a public chatbox where everyone can join.
I think this is not really what you are looking for.
I think you may looking for a conference program like Skype (now supported also in the web) or webinar software who is something different from live helper chat and is more for conference one to many.
I hope this reply will help you

this is maybe out of my scope of support but happy to try to help you.
You can try to Google search.
What do you think about:

Other software... I don't know, you can look into Internet.
Lot of conference is demo or has a premium paid plan.
Sorry no idea.
