cannot see via localhost\lhc_dc\index.php\site_admin\install\install

Hello,

I was using WAMP running my website on my local machine and would like to have LiveHelperChat shown on my pages.

I downloaded LiveHelperChat and put it in my site's root directory but was unable to see via localhost\lhc_dc\index.php\site_admin\install\install. It does not show me the configuration page as my expectation
.
Am I giving my browser a wrong directory path? All my website associated files are put into wamp's root file, which is htdocs folder, so I put the lhc_dc into the folder as well.

Please help me figure this out, thanks~

thank you for your post!

I don't know WAMP and I did not test LHC in local so maybe will be hard for me help you.
If you are in a hosting I can tell you to see the error log file for understand what is wrong.

Also ... I have not clear what you see if you try to open the relative address for setup the live chat. Do you see a blank page or what?
Try to open just http://localhost/lhc_dc/index.php

Seems the slash you have paste here is different from ... the normal maybe you are using wrong slash.

The slash to use I suppose should be / not \.

I tried http://localhost/lhc_dc/index.php but it does not work. I am little bit confused, the lhc_dc does not have a file named index.php inside, how can the page comes out?

Did I skipped downloading some files? Please let me know. Thanks again!

What do you see if you load localhost/lhc_dc/index.php/site_admin/install/install with the right slash? Try to copy from here this url:
http://localhost/lhc_dc/index.php/site_admin/install/install/

Check to have set correct permission.

If you continue to be unable to make it work can be an issue with your localhost, so suggest to try to install into a real hosting in the web.
Usually a live chat system is installed on VPS or dedicated server.

Hello Marco,

Thank you so much for responding!

I tried both the links you suggested me to try, my real server showed me "404 - File or directory not found." and my local machine (the wamp) showed me "Object not found! Error 404".

Would you help me figure out what was happening. There was definitely one step that I went wrong, because the last try I tried on both real hosting and my local machine.

just unzip and try to rename lhc_web to livechat
than upload in your server and try if now setup address work.

Is strange issue maybe I can assist better in live chat. Is not easy to understand from here why you have this issue.

you have downloaded the wrong package.

Now all works.
I have downloaded the version 2.40 for you, is not the last one but is the last not infected by a bad bug.

You can subscribe to this and when will be fixed I suggest to update your live chat to the last version available.

lhc_dc means Desktop Client. You have download the desktop client this is why not work in your hosting. You should use Web package.

Hi Marco, thank you so much for helping me and remotely teaching me getting through the dilemma! I got one more question:

The Livehelperchat window works well on my computer, but when my coworker wants to view the page on her computer, she is unable to see it. We are both under the same network connection. for an example, I type Localhost:8088 on my computer, and she just need to type my ip address on her computer then will be able to see it. But the chat window is not shown on her computer after input of the right ip address.

Would you please help? Many thanks!

Hi tea, strange issue.
You need find me online and also if I AM online I cannot help with that as is not on your PC the issue but in the other.

What happen in the other PC side when address is typed?
I never used localhost technology, I Always use hosting on the internet for my web application.

Also be sure to digit the right LHC folder and not the old who was ended with dc.
Maybe you can have firewall or maybe can be a network issue... don't know tongue

I am able to see http://myipaddress/lhc_web/index.php/site_admin/user/login on another computer, but I am unable to see the chat window on my other computer..

Do not know why...

tea live helper chat is a chat for websites not for chat from one to one PC.
You can maybe have two different operator than you have to assign permission for chat with other operator if is not set by default... is a work you should do and I cannot configure all this for you smile

You must know what is live helper chat before use it.
Is a chat for website.
You need generate embed code and put in a webpage so you will able to see chat widget for visitors.
