Chat configuration - automatic chat closing

I have the following options enabled:
- Enable online visitor tracking
- Track is user still on site
- Automatic chats closing, n>0 minutes before chat is automatically closed -> has set as 5 minutes
- Cronjob has been set

Questions
- Will cronjob close chat where visitor has started a chat ->operator has accepted the chat ->visitor leaves the chat but operator doesn't perform Close chat action?
- Will cronjob close a chat if user has left chat before any operator has accepted chat (i.e. will it close chats that are in pending tab?)

Currently the cronjob doesn't work (version 2.24) and if I perform Maintenance -> Automatic chats close, it works randomly. Sometimes chats get closed, sometimes none of them get closed. Currently I have chats from last week that don't get closed

1. These it will close. It closes chat where from last user message has passed your defined timeout.
2. Cronjob closes only active chats it does not close a pending chats

And cronjob definetely works here.
