I understand some customisation would be needed but before I spend time on this thought I would just ask this quick question.
What I want is to achieve is this....
1. A customer comes on the site, when they hit a target page, an alert appears on the helpers screen 'a customer is on the target page'.2. If the helper is available or chooses to, they can start a chat.3. At that point a chat box appears on the page and the two are in contact.
Does that seem an achievable aim with a reasonable amount of customisation, or would that process not be compatible with this code.
Thank you in advance for your advice,
Best wishes,
Paul.

Hi,
I'm not sure that I correctly understood your requirement. If I correctly understood you want that if customer goes to some page and this page is defined in helper chat as target page. To user is shown popup if support person is online. And customer can ask a question? Did i correctly understood you?
If your answer is yes. It's achievable you just will have to add custom table as target pages and define it's own structure and make appropriate changes in status template to call some custom js .But in general it's doable. Like i wrote in homepage it has flexible structure so you can pretty easily change it.

Thank you, and yes you understood what I meant perfectly.
I shall download and try it out and attempt the customisation. Looking forward to it - thank you again.
When I realised how much people were charging for such chat services I couldn't believe it, but when I thought about doing my own from scratch the task suddenly seemed quite daunting. Then I found this and it looked very impressive.
Can't wait to try it out,
Thanks again for the advice.
Best wishes,
Paul.

It was exact the same reason I started the project . There are few open source alternatives like
http://mibew.org/
http://www.craftysyntax.com/
But I could not stand their coding style, SQL, PHP, HTML everything in same place.... Completely non extendable...
Anyway
