Custom Template Error

Hi

I overrode a template file "information_tab_user_info.tpl" and I created a new form there, where I am using hidden fields to store user email and phone like "<input type="hidden" name="phone" value="<?php echo $chat->phone;?>"/>", but instead it does not load and gives error as

"Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 500 (Internal Server Error) http://www.example.com/chat/index.php/site_admin/chat/adminchat/132/(remember)/true?_=1407228899295"

Please help me solve this
