We are starting out with a new installation. No operators have been trained.
If I install it, I do not want the chat window showing until we are ready.
Is there a way to have it be invisible until we are ready.
Sorry about the noob question, but we had a bad experience with another brand that did it the other way around--have chat windows go live on the site by default, and then you start training people.

Hi yoda,
welcome in the live helper chat forum and thank you for your question!
You can setup your live helper chat, until you do not put the Embed code in your website,
visitor will be not able to see the chat widget. You can paste the embed code in a testing page that only you can access.
You can also set operator offline, not assign anyone to a department.
You are online if you put an Embed code, assign a department and have the relative operator assigned.
I hope this help and I AM sorry about your previous bad experience with an external live helper product.
Welcome in the Community!
Wish you a nice time

So there is no way to install it and have it invisible to the public?
I think it would be nice to have a "training mode" and then turn it on when we are ready.

Yoda, what should be "training mode" ? The live chat should understand who is visitor and who is operator than show or hide?
You can generate an invisible widget... this may be the solution for you.
In Embed code you have to select design (tab) then position invisible.
In this way visitor will be unable to see chat widget and only who is invited with manual pro active can see the chat, reply to it, test, etc.
I never seen a chat with training mode option.

Yes, this may be a solution.
By training mode, I mean the chat widget does not show up to the public until we are ready to "go live".
There is nothing worse than going to a site, and seeing "no operators available" for several days.
When everyone is trained, we make the widget visible, operators sign in, and we are ready to talk to customers.

How the live chat software can understand who is visitor and who is your staff who are testing?
Maybe the invisible widget is the solution or put the chat widget in a reserved area for test.

Yes, that is the programming challenge. We have our staff info, we know our IP address, we know the MAC address of our computers, etc.
As you said, maybe the widget can go on some test pages until we have everybody trained.

Yes, that is the programming challenge.
Well so enjoy. You can do this maybe with .htaccess but is something in your side, should be not in live helper chat side
In any way there is more simple way to do testing as this topic has said.
