If visitant closes browser tab he can't come back to the same chat

Hello, thanks for creating this amazing tool.

My name is Adrian and I'm currently working on implementing Live Helper Chat in my organization. Everything works fine but there is an issue I'm facing and I don't know how to solve it.

The issue is:

1.Visitant opens a chat from the web browser using the chat start form.
2.Operator accepts the chat and they start chatting.
3.Visitant closes the tab (by mistake) or intentionally.
4.Visitant can't come back to that chat, he instead has to creat a new instance from the chat start form main page.

So what I want is to allow visitants to come back to that chat they've already opened instead of opening another one.

Is it possible to detect if the username and email is the same and have that chat reopen for the visitant instead of having a duplicate of that same chat?

Thanks.

Re: If visitant closes browser tab he can't come back to the same chat

Hi acatalin, welcome on the live helper chat forum and thank you for your appreciation!
Have you looked into settings, live help configuration (tab), chat configuration, misc (tab)?

You should find here all necessary settings for this.
Che to have not checked the options: "Reopen closed chat as new? Otherwise it will be reopened as active."
also "Automatically reopen chat on widget open" you need test desired combination of this settings.

Is it possible to detect if the username and email is the same and have that chat reopen for the visitant instead of having a duplicate of that same chat?

I don't think.
You can maybe look at the documentation here:
https://livehelperchat.com/documentation-6c.html

For example:
Pre-filling form fields and adding custom fields

Re: If visitant closes browser tab he can't come back to the same chat

Thanks for the quick reply.

I will just use it as it is and avoid me some headache.

Another question I have is ..
when the visitor closes the tab, the message "The visitor has left the chat." is shown, but the chat remains active, I would like this chat to close automatically when the user closes the tab because right now the chat remains active and the user can't come back to this chat so it's pointless, thanks again.

Hi acatalin,
the visitor leave the chat after some seconds the indicator (icons) will change from green to red.

Chat must be finally closed by an operator or you need set a cron job:
How to setup automatic chat's closing/purging?

I hope this help!
