No solution for visitor can close chat window himself?!

Hi there!

After a few hours in this forum looking for some tips on how a Visitor can close a chat window by himself, i found out there's no clearly solution so far... instead people keep pointing others to the automatic chat purge/close procedure which is something completely different. I'm looking for a solution so my visitors can be able to close their own chat window conversations by clicking the X button available in the "close_popup.tpl.php"  file located in the directory: desgin/defaulttheme/tpl/pagelayouts/parts/ .

The close button calls the following function "lhinst.userclosedchatandbrowser()" but it only works if the Visitor has more then one chat window opened, if the visitor has only one single chat tab/window opened the close button doesnt do nothing.

Question: how can a visitor close the chat window himself by pressing the X close button and the Operator gets immediately the usual notification "Visitor has left the chat" while at the same time this chat conversation its removed from the active chats?

Thanks in advance!
Cheers!

Hi nuno-m-caeiro,
welcome in the live helper chat forum!
Thanks for your first post.

The X button are available in the widget and also in the pop up and when is pressed chat is closed.
Chat can be reopened if in settings, live helper configuration, chat configuration, misc you have set settings for have chat reopened.

Re: No solution for visitor can close chat window himself?!

Hi! Thanks for your quick reply. Are we talking about the same thing? Please look at the image here: http://www.nunocaeiro.com/img/lhcchat.png
The upper right close button (X) doesnt work and it's expected visitors can click on it and browser Window or browser Tab close itself and the Operator gets the usual notification "Visitor has left the chat" while at the same time this chat conversation its removed from the active chats. Bottom line... it's expected this button have the same function then the chat close button that only the Operators can find in their chat window: onclick="lhinst.closeActiveChatDialog() if you inspect the close button you will find this: onclick="lhinst.userclosedchatandbrowser(), which does nothing.

Any tip to solve this? Looks something relatively easy but i cannot understand why this is not implemented from scratch...

Re: No solution for visitor can close chat window himself?!

Thanks for your support PeopleInside.
I would like to inform you that although i'm testing visitors influx through Mobile i guarantee you this also happens on desktop browser (Chrome and Firefox so far). I tested in Internet Explorar 11 and seems to be ok, if visitor click (X) close button the browser window or tab will close as expected.

Cheers!

Re: No solution for visitor can close chat window himself?!

I tested on Desktop livehelperchat.com and with Firefox 50.1 all seems work.
However you can update the topic on GitHub by adding details.

Thaks PeopleInside, i just sign up to Github too. wink
One of the reasons why this topic matters is related with monthly reporting, i must export monthly XLS reports and i must be able to identify how many visitors have left the chat by just going away comparing to those chats who were closed by the Operator.

Re: No solution for visitor can close chat window himself?!

Hi there! Thanks for the quick update although problem persists. Both files lh.js and lh.min.js were uploaded to the server replacing the old versions, cleared cache files and i tested again using Google Chrome, IE 11 and Firefox and the behaviour is the same: visitor chat close button works good in IE and Firefox but Chrome doesnt work.

Any addition tips might help?

Thanks in advance.

Hi nuno-m-caeiro,
thanks for your report. I AM unable to replicate, now issue is fixed from my test.

No able to reproduce, no solution.
I suggest to you to clean cache and try again. Use incognito mode in your browser.
I also tested from Desktop Chrome, no issues.

Re: No solution for visitor can close chat window himself?!

PeopleInside, after this update can you please confirm if the current active chat status on dashboard is automatically closed if the visitor closes his chat window? I mean the expected result was something like this:

- Visitor send chat request;
- Operator accepts chat request;
- Visitor press close button and Chat Window closes;
- Operator gets the message "visitor has left chat";
- Operator Dashboard updates and removes Visitor chat from Active Chats widget;

Is this what should be happening?

Thanks again for the support. wink

Re: No solution for visitor can close chat window himself?!

No, chat are not close in operator side. You are able to see visitor has left the chat and need to be closed (operator side) manually from an operator.
For your case you can refer to this:

How to setup automatic chat's closing/purging?
All other support will be commercial and not free if you are not able to setup automatic chat closing.

Issue resolved in the commit was that the close button, visitor side, was not working for visitor side.
This has been solved.
