Chat window on mobile phones - return from separate window

Hi All,

On mobile phones the chat window opens in a separate browser window.

I find this disorienting for my customers. It is very easy to loose track about what happened here, a lot of people find themselves on a different page and not know how to get back (it is not obvious from a mobile browser that a new tab has been opened).

One way around this could be to have a "Back to site" type of button in the chat window on mobile phones.

Has anyone considered this behavior to be a problem and came up with anything for a better experience? Is there a way to configure anything for this?

Thanks

Hi,
welcome in the Live helper chat forum and thanks for your first post!
This has been already discussed here:

and cannot be changed. How you can imagine a mobile chat in the widget?
You have to have a mobile with the same PC size screen for read what you are writing and the operator are writing if you do not open a new window.

Re: Chat window on mobile phones - return from separate window

Thanks for the feedback.

I am not saying it should not open in a separate window.

I am saying there should be a clear and obvious way to get back from that window to the store (previous page) if the customer decides they do not want to talk to an operator or leave a message. Like a Back button or the "X" button that is in the top-right corner of the chat window when opened in a separate window on a desktop, but it is not there on a mobile.

Re: Chat window on mobile phones - return from separate window

Hi,
I think this is not possible, you can't put a back button on a new window.
When you close the new window you will back to the previous window.
In desktop are different because you have on the right the button to switch pop up to widget, this is not possible on mobile.

I cannot see any problem here, customer has just to select the right window.
I cannot image different solution on mobile as the screen is small.
