Configuring Live Helper Chat Windows Client behind a firewall

I'm configuring a pc in our LAN in order to use Live Helper Chat Windows Client and I need to know which ports I need to open in our firewall.

At home - with the same parameters and no firewall - everything works correctly.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Re: Configuring Live Helper Chat Windows Client behind a firewall

gfc,
thank you for your post!

Have you tried the windows client and not work?
Are you sure are a network problem and not internet or configuration?

Just for let know the windows client is not updated since much time, usually I suggest to use web browser access to operator console. You have more command and also when operator is typing a message user will see "is typing a message". In the windows client some function are missed.

Actually due to Chrome update I suggest to use Firefox because Chrome have issue on notification if the browser is minimized.

Re: Configuring Live Helper Chat Windows Client behind a firewall

As I said, at home the windows client works correctly and everything we need is in place (I even chatted with myself in order to test the program and our web site...)

To avoid configurations problems, I copied the whole directory from my pc at home to the other here at work and tried to connect and it fails; the only difference is that at home I don't have a firewall between my pc and the internet so it is definitely a firewall problem.

You should only need to have ports 80 and/or 443.

80 is regular HTTP

443 is encrypted HTTPS

What operating system are you doing this on?

Re: Configuring Live Helper Chat Windows Client behind a firewall

I was talking to our ISP support and everything started to work correctly (apparently with no modification - but I don't believe in this).

In any case I'll keep your informations for future needs.

Thanks

P.s.: the client works fine on Win XP, Seven and 8.1
