Re: New Update - (in-app notification) - Updated 19-10-2018

Dear Samapraku,

I've stumbled upon this forum thread and your application looks very promising.

I've tested it quickly and got a message that it can't connect to my server. I'm wondering maybe because I use a custom port to connect and https protocol. Can you check your code if it could be the cause? I enter the address in a form of

https://my.ip.address:port

Thank you in advance and thanks for everything you've already accomplished on this project - looks awesome.

Best regards
Tomasz

Hello domel,

I don't think the problem is with the code.

Try with the demo link which also uses https. it opens

https://demo.livehelperchat.com:443/site_admin

If you have removed index.php from your installation url then that can be the cause

Re: New Update - (in-app notification) - Updated 19-10-2018

Thanks for replying. LHC demo works indeed. I have different port - above 1024, but I guess it should not be an issue. Also, I wasn't playing with index.php removal.

And I've just recalled that at the moment I use self-signed SSL certificate, which poses a problem in some browsers. Some of them issue a message/requester and some just give blank screen. Maybe THAT'S the issue. What do you think?

Of course after accepting the SSL certificate in a standard Web browser, my LHC works.

Best regards
Tomasz

Re: New Update - (in-app notification) - Updated 19-10-2018

Hello domel,
like you stated,

after accepting the SSL certificate in a standard Web browser, my LHC works.

Does it mean after accepting the ssl in the browser the app works for you or it still doesn't work?

If it works then obviously the self-signed ssl is the issue.

You can get a free SSL from startssl.com to try with.

Re: New Update - (in-app notification) - Updated 19-10-2018

No, the app doesn't work in any case with my own LHC site (works OK with LHC demo site). I will try to install the certificate you pointed to - thank you for this hint.

I would like to ask you about the future of your APK. Do you have any precise plans? As you stated earlier, you didn't decide yet as for releasing the source code. I personally know an Android application programmer. He could help developing the app further in case you would release or share the code.

As we tested the application for a while on LHC demo site, we find it well planned and missing only few features (like notifying by server instead of querying it) and some tweaking.

Best regards
Tomasz

Hello and thanks for your work.

Can't setup push notifications using your sender id.
activated extension, added gcm id of device to array ( 0 => 'id_here', ), but no information about success registration.

Re: New Update - (in-app notification) - Updated 19-10-2018

Hi olegfusion, I have tested it several times on two separate android devices. I can say for a fact that the problem is  not with the sender id.

Do you have curl enabled on your server? Also do you have an error_log file in the gcm extension folder?

Re: New Update - (in-app notification) - Updated 19-10-2018

Hello
php5-curl and curl are both installed.
no error_log in gcm extension folder.
I press use my sender id, then press register with gcm/server.
I get some process running and then back to main android window without any notification.

Re: New Update - (in-app notification) - Updated 19-10-2018

I don't really know what the problem is with yours. Have you tried a chat session after the setup? it is possible the setup was successful if you have the device id in your settings.php file.

The settings.php should look something like this:

[== PHP ==]
<?php
 return array (
  'google_api_key' => 'AIzaSyAeuzXn29YybxGtdSgUAhKl2w9a-HeeIco',
  'gcm_reg_id' =>
  array (
    0 => 'APA91bFnqz4EiuFoMR1MqG4zPqWHazpKTzmPBIq2YJfcPEgtVkox-Aj5ExQuZZdL99vWpXNwuocHA_JG_MSGHFctcvW1UMeQlBZ04a58b4g-iWThpslk5IFEicXwfmDHfmSD2n9nsSzk',
   ),
)
 ?>

Re: New Update - (in-app notification) - Updated 19-10-2018

double checked curl. google is on the phone from factory.
made chmod 777 for gcm.
gcm_reg_id is not being written to the file

so, no, push doesnt' work here.. neutral

Can you explain in which file you did this and what array is that? what value is the 'id_here'? You don't have to add any gcm id to any array. You may be doing something wrong

I already understood that it was wrong. But I fixed settings.php file to default already.

So, what I did:
1. copied gcm to extension folder.
2. chmod 777 gcm
3. opened main setting.inc.php file and activated extensions.
4. downloaded apk and installed to the phone.

Actually nothing else.
I tried to add to array of gcm settings your device id (from android application), but you explain that it's wrong. So, I removed. Basically gcm module is absolutely like in your archive.

No idea what to do....

Re: New Update - (in-app notification) - Updated 19-10-2018

I have just tried it on a friend's android phone that isn't using my google account and it is receiving push notifications.

So I can't tell where your problem may be coming from

GCM (Google cloud messaging) requires Google account on android before it can work.

I suggest you uninstall the apk and reinstall it again if you haven't done that after correcting your server side.
